Dear Students,

We recognize that you have some important decisions to make in the coming months about your future. Though things feel uncertain now, when you're ready, the School of Business will be here to support you as you begin to plan your next steps. Regardless of where you are in your academic journey, graduate school is an option for you.

This week, we've curated a selection of resources that will help you learn how to research graduate programs, and consider whether a graduate program in business is good fit for your goals.

In response to your questions, the list below includes opportunities for the Class of 2020 graduating seniors in response to these new and unique circumstances, and resources for students to explore 4+1 opportunities.

Some highlights include:

  • Opportunities in MSA, MS BAPM, part-time MBA, and MS FRM programs for graduating seniors
  • Hear from current Master of Science in Business Analytics and Program Management students on how the program has prepared them to work remotely with great success
  • Learn about the NEW option for graduating senior business students to apply to the part-time MBA program at UConn
  • Hear from current Master of Science in Financial Risk Management students about their experiences

In the UConn School of Business, we know our students are resilient, capable, and forward-thinking. But—you don’t have to consider your options on your own. We hear you, and we're ready to help.
Stay Well,

Why Graduate School?
First, ask yourself what you are hoping to gain from a graduate program. Do you want to take a deeper dive into a specific subject, such as finance, accounting, or analytics? If so, a specialty master's program (MS) can help you polish those skills until you are a subject matter expert companies need. Do you feel like you need a broader understanding of multiple areas of business? If so, an MBA might be the right fit.
Questions to Ask:
  • What does the program cost? What is the average starting salary for its graduates (how quickly will I see a return on my investment)?

  • How long will it take to complete the program?

  • Where is the program located? Is it close to places I could get a job when I graduate?

Tips from Qi Zang '20 (Finance), recently admitted to the Master of Science: Finance program at the University of Southern California.

Master of Science in Accounting (Online!)
Offered through the School of Business, UConn's Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) is one of the nation's best accredited online programs.

  • UConn is one of only 187 institutions that hold a specialized AACSB Accreditation—the industry’s gold standard—specifically for its accounting programs.
  • Our online accounting master's degree has been recognized by the United States Distance Learning Association for its best practices in online learning.
  • Compared to other graduate accounting programs, it is one of the most affordable MSA degrees available from any accredited institution. Check out our fees.
  • Offering a wide range of electives, UConn's MSA enables you to design a program that reflects your specific interests versus following a pre-determined “track.”
  • Our MSA online curriculum is focused on issues relevant to today’s accounting professional; in fact, many of our working students tell us they are able to use their new knowledge immediately on the job.
  • Not an undergraduate accounting major? That's ok! We offer a Certificate Program that paves the way to MSA for non-accounting undergraduates.
Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management (MS-BAPM)
UConn's Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals who can harness advanced business analytics and project management skills.
MS-BAPM trains students with foundational knowledge in a variety of programs, including Tableau, Python, JMP, SAS, SQL, R Studio, Hadoop, and more. No prior experience required!

Time to complete the program: 18 months.

Students not graduating can still apply to the 4+1 Analytics Track for Fall 2020.

Part-Time MBA:
Open To Class of 2020 Graduating Seniors!
In an effort to support our Class of 2020 School of Business graduating class, UCONN’s Part-time MBA program has reserved a limited number of Fall 2020 seats for high-achieving UCONN School of Business graduates who do not meet the standard minimum requirement of two years of work experience that would typically be required for admission to the Part-time MBA.

The acceptance of applicants who have less than 2 years of work experience will not be a permanent policy, but given current disruptions in the job market, the PMBA program is committed to helping all School of Business Huskies reach their highest potential.

If you are interested in getting more information about this opportunity please email Jamie Kirschner at  and our admissions counselors will be happy to discuss this option with you.
