Dear New Rochelle Community,
By Tuesday, June 21, 2022, every City School District of New Rochelle student and employee will be provided with two (2) boxes of “iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test” so they will have the resources to self-monitor for health purposes without any restrictions during the summer months.
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days are asked not to take the Antigen Rapid Test.
Each Antigen Rapid Test box contains two tests. All positive test results for employees must be immediately reported to the Tracking Nurse and the employee may not enter the school environment until notified by the Tracking Nurse’s office.
Also, school districts were informed by the New York State Department of Health that COVID-19 Antigen Home Test kits with an April expiration date were sent to schools from the Department of Health. We were subsequently informed that the Food and Drug Administration reviewed these tests to determine their efficacy for an additional 90 days beyond their expiration dates and granted the extension. The at-home kits with a printed expiration date of April 2022 now have an extended shelf life through July 31, 2022. Districts were directed by the Department of Health to prioritize these test kits to support test-to-stay strategies and promote widespread testing in schools.
