At the core of our identity is a desire to know God through his Son, Jesus Christ, and to introduce Jesus to others. There's no greater purpose, and no better way to serve others than to share God's love with them. Wherever you are in your life, you'll find a warm church family that wants to walk beside you. A Spirit of Hope and Revitalization
This Scholarship Sunday, April 22, we proudly announce and celebrate the 2018-2019 winners of FUMCCG's Memorial Scholarship! Lovingly overseen by our Educational Assistance Committee, the scholarship fund has been making an incredible difference in the lives of college and seminary students for 63 years! Pastor Phillip reminds us that "it is a tradition of the church for one of the seminary scholarship recipients to be the guest preacher so Rev. Megan Stone Gray will be our guest preacher on this special Sunday. Megan comes to us from the Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC.
There is always a special offering that is received to help bolster the Memorial Scholarship Fund,
aptly named the
"Christian Dollars for Christian Scholars."
Included within this Sunday's bulletin is an updated brochure detailing the immense value of this scholarship, told in the recipient's own words; as well as a red envelope where donations to support the program may be included. You may also donate online at www.fumccg.org/give. Join us in celebrating this special time in our student family members' lives and be inspired by their strength and perseverance - and know that each of us plays a vital and lasting role in keeping the good going for generations to come!

Have You Checked Out Our Contemporary Service Crosswalk Band?
A Note from Kristin Rozier, Worship Leader
"We are thrilled to be joining First United Methodist Church in Coral Gables! What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the grace and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Your presence at our worship services is truly the highlight, as that is our opportunity to rejoice and sing together in the name of the Lord. We look forward to seeing you there! Awakening Service at 9:30 am in Founder's Hall!! It's time to worship!! See you then!!!
Peace and Grace to you all,
About the Crosswalk Band
The Crosswalk Band, based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, started just a while ago, stemming from the
Experience Worship Music Ministry. Crosswalk is made up of talented and committed musicians who lead worship during their regular weekly services, night of worship, concerts, as well as other well-known events and festivals such as Ronald McDonald House, Revive & Ignite Fellowships, Hope South Florida - Love In Action, Homeless Organizations, Salvation Army, Celebrate Recovery, Faith Farms, Toys for Tots, Car Shows, and more! Last year, they toured around Florida to Brandon, Naples, Tampa, Boynton, Ft Myers and more! They were also invited to audition and tour with the Christian Xtreme Tour and have been awarded "best Christian song" by the Academia Awards. Their focus for worship is to engage the attendees in true, authentic worship. Mastering a wide vast array of covers & originals for varying set list, this production style band is a group highly skilled team of musicians and vocalists that use the magic of music to spread the Word of God and Jesus to all people. They will be kicking off their Concerts for Causes series in 2018 to help bring people together for causes around the area and beyond. As stated by Kristin Rozier, Worship Leader for Crosswalk, "If we sing and play for ONLY one audience, who is God, and one person is touched by our music and compelled to revive, enrich, renew, or restore their faith, then we feel strongly that we have done what we have been called to do with the talents that God gave to us." In addition to performing weekly at our First UMC Coral Gables Contemporary Service every Sunday, they are currently also in studio working on their first album of original music.
May their music bring light, love, and hope to all.

Florida United Methodist Children's Home
Throughout April, we celebrate the special children and team at the
Florida United Methodist Children's Home
. Below are some of their recent highlights:
- The Children's Home recently received some of its best scores ever from the Florida Department of Children and Families as part of its annual recertification process, covering all aspects of care provided to the children within the group care cottages, and foster care services. Way to go!
- The Home has partnered with volunteers from Pawfection Dog Training to provide therapeutic dogs in the classrooms. Needless to say, the dogs are a big hit with the children!
- Some of the students recently set out to perform random acts in the community, including leaving uplifting notes on car windshields, and thanking veterans and first responders like police officers and firefighters. One of the students was even seen doing the chicken dance for someone, just to get them to laugh!
We will be collecting financial donations for the Home next Sunday, April 29th as part of our 5th Sunday offering, so be sure to support this wonderful organization!
