Person to Person payments have become very relevant in today’s scams, especially with buying/selling and fraud impersonations. Please remember Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and similar apps provide a resource for you to pay a family member or friend.

Please protect yourself and only use these apps to pay people you know and have met in person!  This is considered fast fraud due to the speed of payments and you are liable for any transaction you initiate.

4 Basic things a scammer will do:

  • They will PRETEND to be from a business you know or is commonly used
  • They will state there is a PROBLEM or a PRIZE
  • They will PRESSURE you to act quickly
  • They will ask you PAY in a specific way (gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment apps, wiring, checks)

NEVER GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR LOGIN CREDENTIALS TO ANYONE.
