This funding is a vote of confidence in our recent accomplishments and our future projects. What is Placemaking?
Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. Placemaking capitalizes on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces that promote people's health, happiness, and well being.

Or more simply... placemaking is the process of creating public spaces that people can't resist enjoying!
The Sawyer County/Lac Courte Oreilles Economic Development Corporation has organized a Placemaking Event and would like to invite the public to become involved. If you have an interest in volunteering to help with this project, please contact us at for futher information. More details to come!

What's happening? Plan Ahead for these SC/LCO EDC Supported Events:

  • March 7, 2019 - Sawyer County/Lac Courte Oreilles Economic Development Corporation Board Meeting. 9 a.m. at WITC Hayward. This is the annual meeting with Board Member voting for the election of officers. For more info call Lynn Fitch at 715-634-5167

  • March 29, 2019 – “Human Trafficking” Presented by WITC Workforce Development & Advancement Division. Friday, 12-12:45 p.m. In this short presentation, you will hear the basic terminology of various types of human trafficking and where it is most common. You will also learn who is at risk and about the various ways people become trafficked. Join us so you will find out what to look for and what you can do if you suspect someone is being trafficked. Presenter: Anna DeMerrs. UWEX Positive Youth Development & 4-H Educator. WITC - Hayward Outreach Center, Room 4. No registration necessary; just sign in when you arrive.
