Made here. Reclaimed here. Saving a Worcester icon.
Time has proven to be too harsh for the 124-year old Odd Fellows Home overlooking the proud, industrious city of Worcester, Massachusetts. Erected from plans by Barker & Nourse at the turn of the last century, the old brick and brownstone building is four and one-half stories high, and constructed using the finest quality antique mapleantique oakantique spruce, and antique heart pine flooring, wall paneling, doors, framing lumber, windows, and trim. The corner stone was laid October 8, 1890, and it's sad to say, but even though it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, by the end of 2014 the original Romanesque-style building will exist no longer... But that won't stop us from carrying on the legacy of this historic building.
Among the many items to be recovered from this treasure trove of history are dozens of one-of-a-kind antique transom doors with operable hardware and original trim/molding pieces, antique wainscoting and bead-board wall paneling in several species including reclaimed southern yellow pine, reclaimed fir, reclaimed poplar, rough-sawn unpainted, reclaimed spruce and reclaimed hemlock framing lumber and much, much more!

Though the structure in it's entirety will not be saved, we are sure that our eco-conscious clients will enjoy the beauty this building of a bygone era has to offer for generations to come... by re-using it's plethora of wonderfully aged, exquisite reclaimed wood building materials in home renovations, and restorations across the country.

Converse chooses our reclaimed wood products for their sustainable, unique building projects. Do you?

Our sawmill, Antique Lumber Co. is a very special place that draws visitors from near and far. Recently we were pleased to meet with Tim Manny (left) of Walter A. Furman Co., one of Massachusetts' premiere architectural millwork companies, Jennifer Carpenter (middle) of Jennifer Carpenter Associates, a Manhattan-based architect working on the design of the new Converse world headquarters at Lovejoy Wharf in Boston, and John Shipman, Global Real Estate Special Projects Director at Nike, Converse's parent company.

We worked with Tim's company on another high profile Boston project using a similar product, our reclaimed Boston Tea Party Oak, but the purpose of this meeting was to go over grading specifications, review possible finishes, and inspect the raw material harvested from the old pier at Lovejoy Wharf, which is in it's final stages of the drying process to ensure the selection of boards to be used are of the highest quality possible.

Trying to match the look and/or milling of an existing floor?
In 2011, we sold some of our first reclaimed Boston Harbor Oak to Legal Seafood's Harbor-side Restaurant. As will sometimes happen over time in a commercial kitchen, some of the flooring was damaged due to an extended water leak and excessive build-up of moisture.

No need to worry though, we're here to help! Our expert craftsmen can have your floor looking ship-shape in no time, with state of the art custom milling and an extensive inventory of premium reclaimed wood to match the grain, color, and texture you're looking for.
