Clients  Review SNSI's Important Work
SNSI is so grateful to all those who financially supported our organization in 2017. Your support makes great things happen for animals! Here are just a few comments we received via Great Nonprofits to let us know that we are helping shelters put an end to the euthanasia of healthy and treatable cats and dogs:

JShowley wrote : As a shelter director, I can't say enough good things about SNSI and what an asset they are to the welfare of animals across the state. Spaying/ neutering really tackles the root of most problems surrounding animal welfare. Not only do they help community members get their pets fixed affordably, they also support shelters with vouchers to get those cats/dogs fixed prior to adoption. THIS is the state-wide program to support!!

Mufasa is available for adoption
SNSI Client, Beth wrote: SNSI is a great assistance to Indiana residents for helping curb the pet unwanted stats. Rescue Me R.C.H.S. has referred many people that want to be responsible pet owners, who just can't afford the cost of spay/neuter. As a small rescue, we struggle with the cost ourselves, and the SNSI program is a godsend to East Central Indiana. Great people.

Cindy   with Kitty Castaways  Cat Rescue wrote : SNSI is the best. Everyone I've talked to has always been courteous and very professional. They explained how to apply for spay/neuter certificates that helped us out so very much. We are not a large rescue and most medical needs come out of my pocket. I have asked for pamphlets, literature and advertising items to promote SNSI because it is a great cause with great people. Thank you all for doing such a great job for the animals.

Sick Puppies Saved by Indiana GSD & Siberian Husky Rescue
Winter often brings particularly difficult times to Indiana's rescue groups. In December, SNSI received many requests for spay-neuter assistance, including a request from Joanie Zupan, President of GSD & Siberian Husky Rescue in Quincy, Indiana.

Reba and her pups
Joanie contacted SNSI with a desperate need. The rescue group was swamped with sick litters and mamas. One of the litters and their mom had been poisoned - six were saved. Another litter came in with parvo, with five of the seven pups saved. This rescue group also took in a pregnant mama from a high-kill shelter. The non-profit group had spent nearly $10,000 to treat and save the dogs, leaving no funds for spay-neuter surgeries. SNSI was able to assist to ensure that all the pups and mama dogs were fixed.

The generous support of our donors allowed us to help these dogs . Help us continue to help Indiana's dogs and cats  by making a donation of any amount today. Let's work together to save them all.
Pulliam Supports Spay-Neuter and More
To help SNSI do more for animals than ever before, the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust   has provided SNSI with a three-year grant .

This funding allows SNSI to hire our first Director of Marketing/Philanthropy to engage the community, increase financial sustainability, and increase awareness of the Pet Friendly license plate.

This generous grant will also fund 1,000 additional community cat surgeries per year in Marion County. We couldn't be more grateful to have the Trust's support to further our mission of saving animal lives through spay-neuter.
Columbus Making Strides Toward Zero Kill
In 2017, Columbus Animal Care Services released impressive results! The organization is headed to zero-kill status, achieving a 90% live release rate for dogs and a 75% live release rate for cats. To help increase their live release rates, Columbus Animal Care Services started a transport program that moved 116 dogs and 366 cats to shelters in other states that have gotten to zero kill.

Ghost is available for adoption at CACS
It takes an average of $150 to prepare a pet for transport. With SNSI covering the spay/neuter cost, the shelter has been able to stretch their dollars and transport more animals to shelters where they are certain to be adopted into their forever homes. "We truly couldn't have done it without your help!!", said Nicohl Birdwell-Goodin, Columbus Shelter Manager, of their partnership with SNSI.
Get Ready for "Have a Heart"
Each February, SNSI runs the " Have a Heart" campaign, where people in need can utilize participating vets to get their pets fixed at a discounted rate.

If you have friends, family members, neighbors or co-workers who have not been able to afford to get their pets fixed, please let them know about the " Have a Heart" program.

Sponsor Spotlight: Petco Foundation
For many years, Petco Foundation has been a generous Presenting Sponsor of SNSI's annual Hair Ball. Nationally, the foundation has invested $200 million in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. SNSI is just one of 4,000 animal welfare groups benefitting from the Petco Foundation's efforts to create a better world for animals and the people who love them. In addition to grants, the Petco Foundation supports community pet adoption events, as well as in-store adoption events at their 1500 store locations.

Through their funding to SNSI, the Petco Foundation has allowed us to provide additional spay-neuter surgeries for the Feline Community Network in Lake County.
