Dear Friend of the Parks,
With so many high-profile events happening in Chicago Parks this summer, one starts to wonder who will care for the parks? Who is looking out for the best interests of our open green spaces and the residents who rely on them for recreation, health, and enjoying life?
Park Advisory Councils (PACs) and local park partners like community-based organizations and schools have become a vital part of Chicago’s civic infrastructure. Parents of Park Kids, neighborhood volunteers, native plant stewards, lake front protectors, all come together to ensure that our parks are serving all communities of Chicago and are preserved for generations to come.
Friends of the Parks has long supported PACs, and other park partners through training, advocacy, fiscal sponsorship, and additional technical support. It’s time to come together to dialogue about where we are at, the challenges we face, and decide together how we can move our collective vision for parks forward.
