For some Americans, it can be hard to believe that there is a digital divide in this era of smart phones and social media. In many states, by some measures , internet penetration is upwards of 70%. But if you are in an area with poor or no internet service from fiber, cable or DSL providers, now is the time to consider satellite for your internet solution. Satellite service is much different than what was available just a few years ago. New FCC report finds HughesNet top among all ISPs in delivering advertised download speeds.
Germantown, MD., December 18, 2018 — For the fourth consecutive year, HughesNet® earned top rankings in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC)  Measuring Broadband America  report. HughesNet is the flagship satellite Internet service for consumers and small businesses from  Hughes Network Systems , LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services. The newest Measuring Broadband America reports examine actual versus advertised speeds of fixed broadband services nationwide and found HughesNet ranked No. 1 among all ISPs for meeting or exceeding advertised download speeds, four years in a row (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017). For three out of four years (2014, 2015, and 2017), HughesNet ranked No. 1 for meeting or exceeding both download and upload advertised speeds.

Viasat Hits 1,000 Commercial Aircraft Flying with its In-Flight Connectivity System

CARLSBAD, Calif., December 10, 2018 –  Viasat Inc.  (NASDAQ: VSAT), a global communications company, announced today it reached a major commercial aviation milestone: it reached 1,000 commercial aircraft flying globally with its in-flight connectivity (IFC) system.
Viasat installed more than 400 of its  latest IFC equipment  on commercial aircraft in 2018, with more than half of those installs occurring in the second half of the year. These installations have helped Viasat achieve new levels of service quality, cutting installation time to around 3 days, which is significantly better than the industry standard.
