Service Dog Training Update:
Chiron Goes to Ohio

No doubt if you've been by the training center these past few months, you've met an adorable, not-afraid-of-anything black lab puppy named Chiron.  He's currently undergoing service dog training for a very special young man in Ohio.  Chiron has learned some basic manners and earned his AKC Star Puppy, but he still has a little learning to do.  He'll remain in training for an additional year, learning skills like reliable retrieve, how to turn lights on and off, and he'll learn how to open any door.  He's currently visiting his someday forever family before he heads back to work.  Stay tuned for more big news from this little black pup.

Celebrate Safely!

Make it a Merry Christmas for everyone at your house by following a few safety tips, courtesy of the Howell Hounds.

Make certain your tree is anchored.  Keep pets away from water that may be contaminated with fertilizers and preservation chemicals.

Skip the live holly and mistletoe.  Both are hazardous to your dog's health, and the artificial versions look quite nice, and they can be reused next season!

Be careful with candles.  Dogs are curious and tails can easily tip a lit candle.  Consider flame-less candles that flicker, but present no fire hazard.

Cords and wires and plugs, oh my!  Once again, curious pups can't help themselves.  Keep glass ornaments out of reach and make certain to tuck stray wires and cords away.
