Greif Closure

Greif, a private company, has closed their doors in Salem. We were very fortunate to have them in our community offering free cardboard recycling and document shredding services for so long. We realize their closure will have an impact on our community.

Cardboard is accepted in the curbside recycling program with Waste Management. Please flatten boxes before placing in tote to maximize space. Cardboard boxes in good condition should be reused. (Donate/give away for free via FB groups like "Giving in Salem" or "Buy Nothing.")

Staples in Salem has launched a trial program and will accept cardboard recycling from Salem Chamber members. If you're a small Salem business impacted by Greif Recycling's recent closure, our local Staples store (17 Paradise Road, Vinnin Square Plaza) has stepped up with a temporary solution. Salem Chamber of Commerce small business members may recycle corrugated boxes at the store through July 1, 2023. Staples will then determine if this service will continue.
