After mothballing my aspirational college thesis for ten years, the VCHS Faculty Innovation Grant helped me rediscover my core beliefs about student learning. – Tyler Jager
With the VCHS Faculty Innovation Grant, I am able to introduce my students to one of my artistic skillsets and passions – graphic design. – Heidi Cofelice
These are not exact quotes but what I heard from Mr. Jager and Mrs. Cofelice at last Friday’s faculty meeting as they shared with their colleagues what they have been learning as a result of their VCHS Faculty Innovation Grants.
Thanks to the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, five faculty members received an inaugural VCHS Faculty Innovation Grant. They are:
- Sandra Burner – Certification in Learning Differences and Neurodiversity
- Heidi Cofelice – New Course – Art of Business (VCHS Communication Design Agency)
- Brian Hall – Digital Media/Filmmaking Learning Center
- Sarah Hochtl – VCHS Greenhouse – Community Health/Food Sustainability
- Tyler Jager – Faculty with Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics in NYC
Why are these grants important?
I want to see us promote the most distinguished ideas for teaching and learning and showcase that excellence in a way that benefits the entire school community. As we invest in our faculty, we seek to provide them with the resources to pursue highly customized, professional research and development opportunities that equip them to innovate their teaching and curriculum with the goal to improve student achievement.
Congratulations to these five faculty!
