Back-to-School Info

School hours, arrival and dismissal procedures, the Parent-Student Handbook including uniform guidelines, can all be found in our Back-to-School Start-Up Guide.

Thank you to everyone who has already completed our Back-to-School Start-Up Guide forms. If you haven't submitted them yet, please do so immediately, as the forms are now overdue.

There are three mandatory forms: 1) Main Office Form, 2) Technology Agreement, and 3) Pizza Friday Order Form (required only for those participating in Pizza Friday; a school-year-long commitment).

Faculty Updates

We extend a warm welcome to the new members of our faculty, who bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to our school. In addition to Mrs. Fiumara's staff update email sent on 8/14, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Catherine Cormier as our new science teacher for grades 6-8, and Mr. Christopher Cox and Ms. Holly Jenks as new teaching assistants in the Early Childhood School. We also want to thank Mrs. Sue Howard and Mrs. Carie Vaughan, who will be serving as long-term substitutes covering a maternity leave in our lower school. We applaud those who have embraced new roles within our community, demonstrating admirable courage and dedication. May God bless all the teachers of SJS Needham, as we embark on another year together.

Beforecare and Aftercare

Beforecare and Aftercare will not be available on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. These services will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd. For more info on these programs, follow the link below.

Hot Lunch Service (Mon-Thurs.)

Hot lunch will not be available on the first two days of school, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Hot lunch service will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd. Hot lunch must be ordered at least 3 days in advance.

Back-to-School Parish & School Picnic

The Parish and School Picnic is on Sunday, September 8th, from 10:30am-1:00pm in the School Parking Lot. It promises to be a fun, community event for all ages. Please join us at the 9:30am Family Mass at St. Joseph Parish that day, and join us afterwards at the Picnic - feel free to bring any friends or family members!

The Fun Run Is Back!

Planning is underway for the 2024 Fun Run. Our goal for the 2024 Fun Run is to raise $70,000 for our school. We are excited to offer Fun Run t-shirts to our students, faculty, and staff again this year at no cost to families and staff.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for families and businesses on our Fun Run t-shirts. This is a wonderful opportunity to have your business logo or family name on the most popular t-shirt around. Deadline for T-Shirt Sponsorship has been extended to Friday, September 6, 2024!

Volunteer VIRTUS Training

All SJS volunteers (lunch, recess, mystery readers, field trip chaperones, etc.) must follow the guidelines of the school including a 1-time completion of the VIRTUS workshop available through the Archdiocese of Boston. Volunteers can choose any location/time, but online registration is mandatory.

SJS is offering a VIRTUS Training on Monday, September 16th from 6:00-9:00pm in the Lower School Cafeteria (the HUB). To register, click link below, choose 'First Time Registrant' then 'Begin Registration Process' then select 'Boston, MA Archdiocese' from the drop down, and then follow the follow the prompts to Choose SJS on 9/16.
