Safety is number one.

When I ran for office in 2022, I promised to protect our children and our community. I am proud of the progress we made toward those goals and honored to be named as a 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense candidate of distinction.

We are lucky to be living in CT. Giffords Law Center has awarded our state an “A” ranking based on the strength of our policies and regulations that prevent gun violence and we’ve been ranked #5 in public safety nation-wide.

In the last session, I worked hard to make our state even safer:

  • Strengthened gun violence prevention: I voted for landmark gun safety measures to avoid mass shootings and firearm-related accidents, add protections for domestic violence victims and avert suicides.

  • Took action to reduce roadway fatalities: The number of road fatalities in CT has surged in recent years, and as a member of the Transportation Committee, I have been focused on reversing that trend. We adopted the Vision Zero Council’s recommendations, a comprehensive plan to prevent traffic deaths. We also passed a bill to prevent wrong-way driving. CT consistently ranks as having one of the highest rates of impaired driving. To change that, I voted for a bill to reduce the legal blood alcohol limit for drivers. And, although that bill did not make the cut, in 2023, we did pass a bill to require driver’s ed classes to cover driving under the influence of cannabis.

  • Increased protections for our first responders: I championed and passed a bill to make it easier for our firefighters to get insurance coverage for job-related cancer treatment. I was also pleased to vote for a Fallen Officer Fund to care for families of police officers who die in the line of duty. I also voted to expand workers' compensation coverage for the death or disability of police officers and firefighters.

CT has made great progress in reducing crime and enhancing public safety. I am determined to see those numbers drop even further. If re-elected I will continue to ensure our state remains a secure and thriving place for all residents.

If you’d like to join my campaign, I'd love to have you. Volunteer and donate here. And if you can’t spare the time, then just make a note to vote this November.
