Design Feedback Begins

We are entering a new milestone for the project: Design Feedback. See below for more details and an updated schedule for the project.

Updated Project Schedule

In April of 2024, Cambridge City Council voted to initiate changes to the Cycling Safety Ordinance (CSO). These amendments, once finalized, will extend the time to complete the CSO and delay the completion of specific projects, including Cambridge Street. Construction on Cambridge Street will still begin in 2025 as previously stated but will continue in phases from 2025 to 2027.

New Project Completion Deadlines



Original CSO Deadline to Complete Cambridge St: April 30, 2026.

Revised CSO Deadline to Complete Cambridge St: November 1, 2027.

New Project Phases

With the recent changes initiated to the Cycling Safety Ordinance, we will install Cambridge Street in phases. Each phase will include one section of the street. We will begin with Section A: Oak St to Willow St. Sections B and C from Willow St to Second St, will be installed in 2026 and 2027.

Sections B+C

Willow St to Second St

Design feedback for Sections B and C will begin at a later date. We do not yet know the limits of each section. Installation will occur over two years.

Installation: 2026 and 2027

We have started a survey to get your feedback. The survey covers Section A, Oak St to Willow St. In the survey, we provide an overview of the design block-by-block and ask questions and provide opportunities for feedback. Let us know your thoughts.
