August 19, 2021
Dear parents and families:
The information below is important for all commuter and residential students. Please confirm with your student that they have followed all COVID-19 requirements to be able to physically come to campus.

We’re looking forward to an exciting fall semester at Pace. As we have previously announced, all members of the Pace Community who plan to come to campus during the Fall 2021 semester must be vaccinated for COVID-19 (with allowances for religious and medical exemptions). The vaccine requirement to access campus began August 16. If your student anticipates coming onto campus for the fall semester, either as a commuter or residential student, please have them act as soon as possible.

Based on your student’s status below, please ask your student to follow the associated steps to ensure that they can join us on campus:

1. Your student submitted proof of vaccination but has not received an email saying that it has been approved.

Medicat requires up to seven business days to process submissions. Students should continue to check their Pace email for confirmation from Medicat Compliance Services that their documentation has been processed. They can also log into the confidential Patient Portal to check their “status.” Select Immunizations > View History > Print. They will be able to access campus once their COVID-19 immunization status is “Yes, verified.”

Please note that either their COVID-19 vaccination documentation required by Pace University or the other vaccinations required by New York State (NYS) could still be under review. At this time, they ONLY need to meet the COVID-19 requirement to access campus; however, please note that you must still comply with the NYS requirements.

2. They are not yet vaccinated.

Partially vaccinated community members may return to campus in-person. If your student has not yet received the full course of a Food and Drug Administration- or World Health Organization-authorized vaccine, here’s what they need to do to access campus:

  • Obtain the single shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine and upload your proof of vaccination to the confidential Patient Portal as soon as possible.
  • Alternatively, if they plan to receive a two-dose vaccine or have already received the first shot of a two-dose vaccine, they can submit a completed Extension Request Form (PDF). Members of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law should submit theLaw School Extension Request Form (PDF). To be approved for an extension, they must provide proof that they have had the first shot and have scheduled an appointment for the second shot.
  • If they’re coming from abroad without access to an FDA- or WHO-authorized vaccine in your home country, they’ll need to complete an Extension Request Form and provide proof of an appointment in the US for their first shot or the single shot vaccine.

3. They are fully vaccinated.

The deadline to upload proof of vaccination to the University’s confidential Patient Portal was August 1. If they have received both shots of a two-dose vaccine, or a single shot vaccine authorized for use by the FDA or WHO, please have your student upload proof of vaccination as soon as possible. Full instructions for uploading an image or scan of their vaccination record are available (PDF). There are also step-by-step video instructions

4. They want to request an exemption.

Please tell your student to submit their request as soon as possible by uploading a completed Religious Exemption form (PDF) or Medical Exemption form (PDF) to the confidential Patient Portal.

As your student arranges to comply with Pace’s vaccine requirement, remember that it can take up to seven business days for their documentation to be reviewed and they won’t be allowed onto campus until it is approved. Keep in mind that policies were established to protect your student’s health and the health of our community so that we can all experience a semester that looks and feels closer to normal.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to share information about our health and safety guidelines for the Fall 2021 semester via their Pace email and on the Return to Campus website. For more information about Pace’s Fall 2021 vaccine requirement, please see our FAQs on vaccine requirements. For additional guidance regarding uploading proof of vaccination or requesting a medical or religious exemption, please have your student send an email or call the Immunization Compliance Call Center at (914) 422-4699. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
