Dear Parents,

The summer is quickly approaching but already we are excited about the 2024-25 school year.

School starts for the parents in mid-August:

  • Preschool Orientation on Wednesday, August 15 at 5:00 pm
  • Kindergarten Orientation on Wednesday, August 15 at 6:30 pm
  • 1st-8th Grade Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 16 - early evening TBA

School starts for the students on Monday, August 19 with our traditional "Meet the Teacher Open House" from 7:30-11:00 am. This is a required attendance day, so please mark your calendar to come and start your school year with your child on August 19!

As we gear up for the upcoming school year, we have some exciting news to share with you regarding our staff.

We are thrilled to introduce Mr. Dan Roehrig, who will be stepping into the role of Assistant Principal for the Middle School. Mr. Roehrig brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective, making him an excellent addition to our administrative team.

In his new capacity, Mr. Roehrig will play a pivotal role in the administration of the Middle School, overseeing various aspects of its operations to ensure the smooth functioning of our educational programs. His enthusiasm for education and dedication to student success make him a perfect fit for this position, and we are confident that his leadership will contribute significantly to the growth and development of our school community.

Mr. Roehrig will officially assume his duties on July 1, and I am excited to collaborate with him on enhancing our Middle School programming. Together, we will work towards providing your children with the best possible educational experience, fostering a supportive and enriching environment for their academic and personal growth.

As we add to our staff, a number of our staff have decided to retire from STS this year:

  • Mrs. Patrice Bergman will be retiring this June after a successful 14 year career in our preschool program.
  • Mrs. Dorothy Skelton will also be retiring after many years in Catholic education, the last six of which were here at STS, teaching and leading in our preschool.
  • Mrs. Mylinda Buto has also made the decision to retire after eight years at STS, mastering the lab and creating our elementary science program.

We wish all our retirees many blessings in this new stage of their life.

Another group of teachers will be leaving STS to pursue different educational opportunities.

  • Mrs. Amanda Pantle will be leaving St. Theresa to pursue a special education position.
  • Mrs. Emily Walczynski will also be leaving St. Theresa to pursue a special education position.
  • Mrs. Supriya Baskaran will also be leaving St. Theresa to pursue a high school science position.
  • Mrs. Maureen Olson will also not be returning as preschool aide.

We thank them for their service these past years and wish them well in their next endeavors in education.

We are very excited to be introducing you to our new staff members for the fall:

  • Miss Alexis Hall will be teaching preschool in Room 21 next year. Miss Hall is an experienced preschool teacher who is excited to return to teaching in a faith based preschool program. Mrs. Skelton has agreed to serve as mentor to Miss Hall as she continues her early childhood career here at St. Theresa. We are looking forward to a busy year of learning in Room 21.

  • Mrs. Michelle Bauler will be moving up to the position of lead teacher in preschool Room 22 after a very successful experience teaching in preschool this winter. With her will be her teaching partner from this winter, Mrs. Sandy Wiseman, who will be the instructional aide in Room 22.

  • Mrs. Lora Hecht will also be joining the preschool team working with Mrs. Mertes in Room 20. Mrs. Hecht is an experienced preschool teacher, most recently in the Joliet diocese and is excited to move east to the Archdiocese of Chicago!

  • Mr. Conrado Robles will be joining the middle school team as the middle school science teacher with a 6th grade homeroom.. Mr. Robles is a young but experienced science teacher with plans for a very hands on approach to science, fueled by his experiences at Space Camp and his work in the educational division of the Fermi Lab.

We are actively interviewing for the 2nd grade and elementary science positions as well as the new STEM position for the Mind Cave and will notify you when we have finalized these contracts.

Students entering grades K-8 will receive their class placements on Friday, May 24 at the end of the school day. These letters are on paper and will come home with your child. Attached to this will be the grade level class list for you to plan get togethers for your grade during the summer months. If you are not in school on May 24 or if you are new to St. Theresa School, your child's letter will be mailed home to your attention.

Moving Up Day, will be on Wednesday, May 29 at 8:30am. During Moving Up Day your child will meet his/her new teacher and will receive information about our annual Summer Study in reading (PS-8th) and math (1st-8th).

You have already received information through the May Mailings about the uniforms, supply kits, the physical and immunization requirements, and other information to prepare for the start of the school year. All this information is posted in the email archives on the website.

Please also feel free to contact Mrs. Soby if you need any assistance with this information or forms.

During the summer, the school offices will be open 9:00-noon Monday through Thursday and the administrative staff will be available via email throughout the summer.
