Cumberland Academy of Georgia is hosting its 4th Annual Chip Fore Charity Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club in Johns Creek on October 30, 2023. We are inviting 120 community members to play 18 holes of golf and have the opportunity to win fantastic prizes, bid at our silent auction, play with sports celebrities, and enjoy a beautiful day of golfing. Money raised will go to our Annual Fund for Excellence to benefit our school for neurodiverse students.

The City of Sandy Springs Citizens' Leadership Academy Program
The City of Sandy Springs Citizens' Leadership Academy is a multi-week program designed to empower and educate residents and businesses within our community. With a focus on local government, civic responsibility, and community leadership, the academy offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum tailored to foster informed and active citizenry. At the completion of the program, participants will have a deep understanding of the structure, functions, and responsibilities of local government, providing the tools and knowledge needed to actively participate in their local government and take on leadership roles within their community, fostering positive change and contributing to the overall well-being of the City.
The Academy includes 9 sessions over a period of 4 months covering various aspects of local government. Topics include: City Management, Public Safety and Emergency Management, Financial Management and Budgeting, Community Development, and Public Works. Classes will be held on the following dates: 10/10/2023, 10/24/2023, 11/14/2023, 11/28/2023, 01/09/2024, 01/23/2024, 01/30/2024, 02/13/2024, and 02/20/2024.
Class size is limited to 30 participants. A fee of $35 will be due upon confirmation of attendance.

North Springs Students Gauge Career Interests on the Job
North Springs High juniors and seniors can learn by working at local companies through the school’s Work Based Learning program. “We’re looking for what’s going to be aligned to what their future career passions are going to be,” said Brian Patterson, the program’s coordinator for North Springs. He interviews approximately 200 students during the spring semester of their sophomore or junior year. Teacher and guidance counselor recommendations are considered, but it’s not just about grades, but finding a student’s passion. The Work Based Learning program originated as a co-op program, with students leaving the school at 1:30 p.m. for typical retail jobs. But when Patterson attended a training program in Hall County, he saw a better program. His principal at the time was receptive to the suggestion, provided that he got 75 business partners who weren’t afraid to hire high school kids. Patterson said he knocked on a lot of doors and partnered with the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, the Sandy Springs Education Force, and local businesses.

Full Course is Closing the Learning Gap for Aspiring Restaurateurs
Full Course, the restaurant industry’s first and only incubator, accelerator, and investor in early-stage food brands, continues to innovate the industry with its one-of-a-kind training program for those looking to open a restaurant.
This fall, Full Course will accept participants into LAUNCH, a 15-week comprehensive virtual training program for aspiring owners and operators wishing to learn all the essential skills needed to map their way to opening their first restaurant. Also, in keeping with Full Course’s educational commitment to level the playing field for success in the restaurant industry by removing barriers of cost and accessibility to professional development and leadership training, partial scholarships will be available.
The genesis of this incubator program came from a continued number of queries from underrepresented Founders that were operating food trucks or catering businesses but lacked the knowledge and resources to open brick-and-mortar restaurants.
