Hello families! I am so excited to meet all of you and have such a joyful year together. You may be wondering what has been going on inside this beautiful brick building these past few weeks.
Well, just the most awesome teacher launch to a school year in the history of school launches.
We have been busy collaborating, bonding, listening, sharing, and most importantly, preparing the most nurturing and electric place to learn and grow.
I have received such beautiful feedback from staff after we worked all day with Seth Webb, our coach from the National Center for Montessori in the Public Center, to start our self-reflective work and narrow down our goals for the year. Did I mention it was magic?
Well… you’ll see!
We discussed how our words create worlds. We basked in gratitude we have for our families who support and advocate for us and a school district that provides us with an abundance of resources and public access for children. We have planned for intentional parent education and outreach to reach more families. These are just some of the highlights.
Change takes courage. I want to acknowledge that it may be strange to have new faces at our school and that you may be feeling uneasy. I want to reassure you that our staff loves your children and each other enough to construct creative solutions around any obstacle we face. This is our commitment to each other and you. This is the most wonderful place for children to learn and become independent thinkers. This is the place for human flourishing.
Dr. Montessori knew what she was doing when she developed this method. Contrary to the belief that children are empty vessels to fill with information, she knew that greatness lies within each child and that we need the prepared environment to foster this greatness.
We have big work to do. Ready, set, go!
