COMMUNION

It is the first Sunday of the month - let us celebrate communion together!

Gather your communion elements before signing onto Zoom: some bread and fruit of the vine, ideally wine or grape juice, but in a pinch any liquid will do.

Hymn # 231 – Christ Has Risen While Earth Slumbers

Christ has risen while earth slumbers;

Christ has risen where hope died.

as he said and as he promised,

as we doubted and denied.

Let the moon embrace the blessing;

let the sun sustain the cheer;

let the world confirm the rumor:

Christ is risen, God is here!

Christ has risen for the people

whom he died to love and save;

Christ has risen for the women

bringing flowers to grace his grave.

Christ has risen for disciples

huddled in the upstairs room.

He whose word inspired creation

can’t be silenced by the tomb.

Writing of Our Prayers

Send your prayers in the chat room. Prayers will be prayed by the Prayer Group.

Reading – Mary Grogan

John 20:24-29 (NRSV)

But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.’

A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.’ Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.’

The Message – Pastor Paul

The Sacrament of Communion

All are welcome to the table.

Prayers of the Community

Silent Prayer

The Lord's Prayer

Some of us say, "forgive us our debts," and others, "forgive us our trespasses." Please pray with the words that are familiar to you and speak to your relationship with God. We seek unity, not conformity.

Hymn # 248 – Christ Is Risen! Shout Hosanna! (verses 1-3)

Christ Is Risen! Shout Hosanna!

Celebrate this day of days!

Christ is risen! Hush in wonder:

All creation is amazed.

In the desert all surrounding,

See, a spreading tree has grown.

Healing leaves of grace abounding

Bring a taste of love unknown.

Christ is risen! Raise your spirits

From the caverns of despair.

Walk with gladness in the morning.

See what love can do and dare.

Drink the wine of resurrection,

Not a servant, but a friend.

Jesus is our strong companion.

Joy and peace shall never end.

HELP US UPDATE

THE CHURCH DIRECTORY

The Deacons, with help from Ralph Hooper, is making progress on producing an online directory. We want to include photos and prefer that you provide your own photo for inclusion in the Directory.

You do not need to be an official "member" to be in the Directory. If this is your place, if this is the place you think of coming to on a Sunday morning, or if there is anyone at SPC you think you might want to call sometime, this note is for you!

Here are the options for having your photo in the Directory (in order of preference):

1. Please send a high resolution digital file to Patti Oji at ojidesigns@comcast.net. Use a good, clear image with a head shot or above the waist photo.

Please no sunglasses or hats. We prefer the couples and families submit one photo.

2. If you don’t have a good photo, Patti will take your photo at church. Please email her at the above address.

3. You may also mail a print photo for scanning. Send it to:

Patti Oji

59 Creek Road

Fairfax, CA 94930

She, regretfully, may not be able to return the photo.

4. Use the photo that is currently on file. (Most are out-of-date, however.)

If your contact information is out-of-date, please provide that information to Patti, as well.

We are missing birthdates! We don’t need the year, but we do want your month and day. Please include your birthdates with the photo.

MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION

Every Tuesday at 9:00 AM

Join Pastor Emeritus the Rev. George McLaird every Tuesday morning for a meditation. Often a special piece of music is played prior to our 10-minute meditation. Sometimes it is a Guided Meditation; sometimes it is a Silent Meditation.

PRAYER & HEALING GROUP

First & Third Tuesdays of the month at 5:30 PM

Next Meeting: May 7 at 5:30 PM

No matter who you are and what you believe, we welcome you to join us in an hour of peaceful prayer.

Come pray for yourself, your family and friends, our church / country / world. When we gather, we take time for silent prayer as well as lifting up those prayers that have been offered up on Sunday, both in person and online.

We like to say no experience necessary! You may have never prayed in your life. Or maybe not in a long while. Let us simply gather in a blessed and peaceful time of connection, where we can pray and minister to each other's needs.

No RSVP is necessary, just come to Thomson Hall at 5:30 PM on the 1st or 3rd Tuesday of the month.
