House Bill 4259 was signed into law August 19, 2016, and is now Public
Act 99-830.
This new legislation terminates participation in IMRF for new employees of the following six employers:
- Illinois Association of Park Districts
- Illinois Municipal League
- Illinois Supervisors, County Commissioners and Superintendents of Highways Association
- Township Officials of Illinois
- United Counties Council of Illinois
- Will County Governmental League
The legislation applies to those who begin employment on or after January 1, 2017. Those employees who begin employment prior to January 1, 2017, will continue to participate in IMRF.
