SOUTHBOUND CLOSURE, FLAGGING OPERATIONS SCHEDULED FOR KEMPSVILLE ROAD THIS WEEK
Work limited to off-peak, evening hours to minimize traffic impacts
NORFOLK – As work continues on Phase I of the I-64/264 Interchange Improvements Project, crews will temporarily close southbound Kempsville Road to traffic beginning tonight at 7 p.m.

In an effort to minimize impacts to the traveling public, the southbound Kempsville Road closure will be limited to off-peak, evening hours. The road is expected to be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

A signed detour will direct motorists to use Center Drive and Newtown Road to get around the closure, which will allow crews to mill and pave the roadway.

Nighttime lane closures with flagging operations are also possible on northbound Kempsville Road at other times this week.

At this time, nearby bridge work is scheduled for this weekend, Oct. 4-6, which could necessitate a temporary closure of Kempsville Road due to construction debris.
