LAST CALL - DEADLINE FOR SPONSORSHIPS IS TOMORROW


Once again, the Greater Cape Ann Chamber is working in partnership with the Town of Ipswich to bring you 8 nights of music, dancing, and fun at the Take Out Terrace on the Ipswich Riverwalk. 


This year, the Tuesday evening events will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM - a more family friendly time slot. The first event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11 and runs weekly through Tuesday, August 29, for a total of 8 events. See list of musical guests.


This is the perfect opportunity to get your business name in front of hundreds of attendees over the summer and show your support for the Ipswich community. Your generous sponsorship donation will help with subsidizing the musical acts and overall promotion to bring people to Downtown Ipswich.

The Massachusets Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has a comprehensive mitigation plan to address travel impacts and provide cost effective alternative transportation options for residents and visitors ahead of the scheduled closure of the Sumner Tunnel from Wednesday, July 5, through Thursday, August 31, 2023. The tunnel will be fully closed for approximately two months to facilitate work on the Sumner Tunnel Restoration Project. 


Travelers are encouraged to Ditch the Drive and use alternative means of travel. MassDOT has created a menu of safe, efficient commute options while the tunnel is closed for repairs. Travelers can utilize MassDOT 511 to help review traffic conditions and MBTA’s Trip Planner to plan their public transit trips.

Zumi’s Employee Safety Presentation Emphasizes De-Escalation


(From Ipswich Local News) On Sunday, Zumi’s owner, Umesh Bhuju, presented to his employees that confidence, awareness, and de-escalation can prevent tense situations when facing difficult customers. Bhuju gave the first of these employee safety presentations in 2007 after Zumi’s staffers were verbally abused over the phone. The presentations continued off and on since then, and Bhuju later got Ipswich police Sergeant Jason Monteiro’s help giving them. Bhuju said he hopes to make the presentations annual and expand them to include multiple local businesses going forward. Read More

Manchester Special Town Meeting to consider new fire truck, revised schools budget

(From Manchester Cricket) The Select Board has approved the warrant for a Special Town Meeting to take place on Wednesday, June 28. The meeting will be held at the gymnasium of the Memorial Elementary School starting promptly at 6:30 pm. The main impetus for the Special Meeting is the need to approve a revised budget for the regional school district. Six other articles will be taken up as well. Read More

East Gloucester Gas Mains Work Started


(From Gloucester Daily Times) Gas main replacement work has started on sections of Mt. Pleasant Avenue and Haskell Street in East Gloucester and is expected to wrap up in mid-September, according the city.The city’s update says the full length of Mt. Pleasant Avenue will have a binder coat of asphalt when the project is completed in September and a new top coat will be applied in the spring. The work includes the marking out of underground utilities, excavation of the street to lay new gas main, relaying National Grid customer’s individual gas services and connecting that service to the new main. Trial Proposed for Beach Shuttle

Singing Beach | Manchester-by-the-Sea


(From Gloucester Daily Times) The Select Board last week agreed to give a “provisional” OK to two teens’ proposal to shuttle beach-goers from the MBTA train stop at Manchester-by-the-Sea’s Depot to Singing Beach and back. The plan by Manchester teens Stephen Martin and Preston Potter is to purchase a golf cart for the service, which will be a first-come first-served operation. The pair, who have dubbed themselves the “Beach Bums,” will also cart umbrellas, beach chairs and coolers to the beach. Read More
