THANK YOU for YOUR LEADERSHIP
A new church year is starting, and we are looking forward to having a great year. So much is already on the planning table and in the works. Stay tuned! And please, chip in and help where you are able. It takes time, talent and treasure to make our congregation thrive!

Even as we kick-off this new year, it's a great time to step back and share a huge THANK YOU to some of our stalwart church leaders who are stepping down from demanding and important volunteer roles. We want to recognize them and thank them for their service. Please, drop them a note if you can. Their time and commitment to us has been amazing.

Bob Trefry - Board of Trustees
Sharon Poole - Endowment Committee

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2021: 10 AM, Virtual and In Person
“Homecoming: In the Returning” – Rev Dr. John Morehouse
front and courtyard of The Unitarian Church in Westport
Sharon Salzburg, the American Buddhist Teacher says that healing is found in the constant returning to life. In our traditional Homecoming service we will gather once again to commemorate the symbols of our congregational life and be in the sanctuary for our worship service.

All ages are encouraged to attend this Sunday's service. Parents with infants - pre-K are always welcome to bring their children into the sanctuary with them, or to sit in the foyer or library, where they can still hear the service but have a bit more privacy and parenting flexibility.

For virtual participation: our ZOOM link is always on our website's homepage and does not change from week to week. You can also click : HERE. Meeting ID 207 517 697 PASSWORD: 8893787678 Landline: 1 646 876 9923.
Our offering is gratefully received in person on Sundays, or on VENMO at The Unitarian Church in Westport (@TUCW-1); vop.tucw.org; or mail in a check. This week we will be sharing the plate with the Adam J. Lewis Academy:
It’s the beginning of another school year and it’s one day after September 11. Tragically, Adam Lewis was killed on September 11 in the World Trade Center. Education was Adam’s escape from growing up poor in the Bronx.

Adam’s wife, Patty and Westporter Julie Mombello - friends from their days working together at Greens Farms Academy - decided the best way to honor Adam’s life was to start a pre-school in Bridgeport – The Adam J. Lewis Pre-school. Julie will join us for Sunday’s Share the Plate.
The Adam J. Lewis Pre-school (now, Academy) opened its doors in 2013 with 12 PreK students. For the 2021-2022 school year, it has over 200 students in PreK, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades with plans to add an additional class each year through 8th grade.

The mission of this year’s youth group initiative is to become better stewards of the Earth to fulfill our Unitarian Universalist seventh principle, which calls on us to respect “the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.” We will learn to recognize and embrace the moral imperative to live in covenant with the web of life, while becoming mindful of the many ways that the Earth, our only home, nurtures us, especially in times of grief and despair.
For every Sunday, parents with infants - pre-K are welcome to bring their children into the sanctuary with them, or to sit in the foyer or library, where they can still hear the service but have a bit more privacy and parenting flexibility. Our ushers can help them get settled.
