CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Our very successful Capital Campaign to fund essential repairs and renovations to our iconic building is well underway. We have improved and upgraded the parking lot, installed a new concrete sidewalk in front of the church, and solved our flooding issues. We are ready to begin the next phase of the plan which concentrates on the sanctuary, specifically, restoring the skylight. ...CLICK FOR MORE

To give against your pledge, or, if you are new and didn't have a chance to give earlier, please feel free to donate by clicking: https://uuwestport.org/thecapitalcampaign/donate/
CLEAN SLATE: WE NEED YOU FOR THE LAST HURDLE
The Clean Slate bill has passed in the Connecticut House and Senate. Now it awaits the Governor’s signature. The bill would expunge the records of people convicted of some misdemeanors and less serious felonies. It means that a criminal record does not become a life-sentence limiting educational, training, housing and job opportunities.

We must still push Gov. Lamont to sign the bill! Please call his office to ask him to sign the bill (860-566-4840).

When you call, there will be a menu of options; stay on the line. You'll hear, "To speak with a constituent services representative, please hold for the next available person." When someone answers, you say: "I'm calling to urge Governor Lamont to sign Clean Slate Legislation, SB 1019."
We're creating a Legislative Advocacy Team. It won't begin until the fall but if you're interested, please contact David Vita: 203.227.7205 x14 or david@uuwestport.org
GOODNIGHT MOONSHINE: VOICES CAFE'S FIRST LIVESTREAM PERFORMANCE, SATURDAY JUNE 19, 8:00 PM
Voices Café’s first livestream performance will be Saturday, June 19. There will be no in-house audience.

Our premier performance features Goodnight Moonshine with Molly Venter, also of Red Molly, and Eben Pariser, who also performs with Roosevelt Dime. Please click https://voicescafe.org/info-tickets/ to purchase tickets for this live-stream only concert.
In recognition of June 19—Juneteenth-- the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States -- proceeds from this performance will benefit the Mary and Eliza Freeman Center for History and Community in Bridgeport. The Freeman Center is working to restore two homes that are on their original foundations in Bridgeport’s 1820’s “Little Liberia," a seafaring community of free people of color. Click here to read more: https://freemancenterbpt.org/
NEW! INFORMAL, FUN AND GOOD-FOR-YOU
BODY MOVEMENT CLASS. JOIN US!
Our fellow member Joan Glasser Orenstein, a licensed instructor who regularly teaches fitness classes in Trumbull, has graciously agreed to run a low impact body movement/aerobics class for some of us who want to get together and have some fun - and honor our bodies in the process. Outside, at church, casually. Are you interested in joining us? Likely it will be end- of-day or on the weekend, but a lot depends on group preference.

A small donation per session would be appreciated; scholarships available. Join us! Email events@uuwestport.org with "MOVING" in the subject line and tell us your preferences and availability. Every fitness level welcome: it’ll be about laughter and connection AND body care.
TUCW-ERS INVITED TO SHARE THEIR WISDOM THIS SUMMER
From July 4- August 29, our ministers will be taking a well-deserved break from their weekly messages: the Tuesday reflections via email, and the short videos on Wednesdays and Fridays.

As part of our summer lay ministry, we invite TUCW friends to share a spiritual message with us - an essay, some music, poetry, a reading - for each of these weekly communication spots.

If you are interested, please let Beth Cliff know and she'll reserve a spot for you. We are most interested in a personal essay of 300-400 words for the eight Tuesdays; but the short 2-3 minutes videos are welcome too.

Let's hear from one another! We all have thought-provoking perspectives, insights, experiences, reflections and wisdom to share.
WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBERS!
Good news is worth repeating - and we're really pleased to share this good news again. If you didn't get a chance to reach out to our new friends last week, you can now. Welcome to these folks who joined us as members from March 2020 through last week ... And stay tuned for more new news as the summer unfolds. We're building and growing!

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH ENDED IN MAY...
.... but we care about mental health every day of the year. The HUB put together this video to help us understand when our health or of those we love might be warrant special attention. Check it out.

And last week we shared resources about how to understand and recognize depression in older adults.Read more HERE, including symptoms and resources. CT Stronger is another excellent resource for older adults.
