The Facilities Team has been working on the next phase of the work we can take on with the $625K remaining in our capital campaign. Next up is replacing more of the glass walls, upgrading the chancel space, removing the VAT tiles, and finishing the sanctuary floors. We are reaching out now to ask if a few congregants could come forward to help us explore the different options available. We would welcome your participation. If you are interested, please contact Board members Steve Grathwohl or Deb Garskof.

SEND A LETTER: FOLLOW DOCTOR'S ORDERS
AND FUND HUSKY FOR IMMIGRANTS!
In Connecticut, undocumented immigrants are unable to access healthcare coverage. They can’t buy into AccessHealth CT, are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare, and private insurance companies are either too expensive or outright reject applications from undocumented individuals. Without health care coverage, many individuals delay seeking care until their condition requires emergency department visits or hospitalizations. Chronic health issues that could be easily managed or treated, such as diabetes and heart disease, develop into more serious and expensive conditions. We’re asking Governor Lamont, Senate Majority Leader Looney, and House Speaker Ritter to follow doctor’s orders and expand HUSKY coverage to all immigrants up to 26. CLICK HERE to tell them to include funds in the budget for HUSKY expansion to 26. David Vita, Legislative Advocacy

ARE YOU A CURRENT OR FORMER HEALTHCARE PROVIDER?
Last year, over 400 health care providers signed on to a letter in support of expanding eligibility for HUSKY, Connecticut's Medicaid program, to include undocumented members of our community. The CT legislature passed a bill in response which provides HUSKY care to all children ages 0-12, regardless of immigration status. This session we are asking healthcare providers, current or former, to urge our lawmakers to support legislation expanding HUSKY eligibility to those up to age 26, regardless of immigration status because you know first-hand what it means to have healthcare coverage… or not. Please CLICK HERE to fill out a form to sign on to the letter. and please share with your colleagues! Thank you. David Vita, Legislative Advocacy, david@uuwestport.org
