This 2001 911 (996) Carrera is a game changer: not for its uniqueness and not for its rarity, but for its condition. The car is almost perfect. There are no paint chips in its flawless original Guards Red paint, and the Savannah beige leather interior is like new, with only a tiny scuff mark on the steering wheel. It is in virtually brand new condition.
The car is equipped with a 3.4 liter flat 6 cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower, a 6 speed manual transmission, leather seats, 18” light alloy turbo look wheels, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, wheel caps with colored crests, ABS brakes, front and side air bags, power windows, seats, mirrors, headlamp washer nozzles, AM/FM cassette radio, roof transport system, floor mats, technic package, guards red seat belts, and power sunroof. The vehicle was recently equipped with Continental Sport Contact 3 tires. Best of all, everything works. The original sticker price was $73,240.
This Porsche was special ordered in late 2000 by the current owner (a 47 year PCA member), from Fred Lavery Porsche in Birmingham, MI. He took delivery on May 24, 2001, and still owns the car. Being a meticulous owner, he has always had the vehicle serviced according to Porsche’s recommendations and cleaned it obsessively. Service records and books are included. Along with his other Porsches, this car was driven sparingly and in a gentlemanly manner. At present the odometer reads only 29,346 miles. It has never been tracked, though it has visited Lime Rock, Elkhart Lake and other tracks. The vehicle is only being sold because of the owner’s declining health.
The car has had no paintwork and has been fastidiously maintained. It has been driven an average of 1,467 miles per year. Other than oil and filter changes, the only significant repair was upgrading the IMS bearing, with a new rear main seal for protective purposes. The car has a clean Carfax with no damage or accidents reported. It comes with a battery tender.
