Powered by a rear-mounted air cooled 1600 cc 4 cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission, this Beetle is easy to drive and can keep up with modern day traffic. It will get 25 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, with a top speed of 90 mph.
The car is a real eye catcher with its shiny red paint, chrome wheels and hubcaps. It is an older restoration, has been repainted red (not the original color) and although shiny, has accumulated some chips. The chrome is excellent and the interior is in good condition. The car starts easily and runs, shifts, steers and handles well. The five digit odometer reads 30,556 miles.
This Beetle just had a major service at Munk’s Motors in Waterford, MI, one of the best respected independent VW shops in the Midwest. At that time a leaking brake fluid reservoir was cleaned and hoses were replaced. To improve starting and cold weather performance, the starter/battery cable and two ground cables were replaced as well as the vacuum hose on the left intake manifold. The distributor was replaced and timing reset. The inoperative right windshield wiper was repaired and the accelerator cable was adjusted. Various other adjustments were performed as well, and the car is now ready for many miles and smiles.
