Presented here is an outstanding example of a 1956 Buick Special Riviera 2 Door Hardtop. It is an eye catching show stopper, with its Seminole Red and White livery and matching two tone interior. The car is fully sorted, having received a complete frame-off $35,000 restoration nine years ago, and has been driven only 4,238 miles since then.
The frame was sand blasted and painted, a new interior trimmed in red and white Cordaveen upholstery with a color keyed steering wheel and carpeting was installed as well as new glass. Over $9,000 was invested in rechromed exterior trim and professionally polished stainless steel trim. The red and white repaint is outstanding. Its numbers matching engine and transmission have been rebuilt. Brakes, shocks, exhaust, tie rods and ball joints were replaced or rebuilt. Additionally, new lifters and pushrods were installed on July 9, 2020, as well as a new heater core.
This Buick is powered by a 322 cu. in “nail head” 220 hp Fireball V8 engine coupled to a Dynaflow automatic transmission. Originally built with a 2 barrel carburetor, the engine has been upgraded to a three carburetor Tri Power setup from a 1957 Pontiac. The car comes with five Coker white wall tires including the spare, all mounted on red painted steel wheels, with the correct chrome Buick wheel covers. The car is equipped with power steering, a heater and a Sonomatic radio and comes with extensive service records. This is a multiple show car winner, accumulating twenty five trophies since its restoration.
