From your MBEIC Chair
Can you feel the weather changing?
For many of us temperatures are going down and winds have started signaling a change in season; but our customers’, employees’ and our own MBE businesses’ demands continue to be there, waiting for us to take the next step forward.

This is a perfect time to look ahead to the road and opportunities still in front of us, to continue developing ourselves, seeking connections, ensuring we are actively engaged in our business community and industries.

This last quarter helps us, while being right in the present moment, to look back at some of the challenges our economy; and perhaps our businesses, have faced. When something like low unemployment is excellent news for the economy, it is not necessarily good news for us. It makes it harder for us to find the right talent we need to meet growth and expansion needs. Perhaps looking at technology is part of the answer? Or considering partnering or subcontracting opportunities as avenues or potential strategies to continue to thrive? Do we know how others in our area are resolving questions similar to those we have? Is there another MBE who could be the right fit or with which we could create synergies and offer better solutions?

We would only know if we connect with others, if we network, if we collaborate. With this in mind we invite you to attend NMSDC Annual Conference in Atlanta, as well as any Regional Task Force or other events around us. Let’s share, let us connect, let us partner to find the best ways to move ahead and continue to thrive. Our customers, employees, businesses, families and communities depend on us.

Thank you for being an entrepreneur. Thank you for taking the risk. Thank you for what you do!

Beatriz Fernandez
