IMPORTANT UPDATES

UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS: The new law is in effect and is retroactive to provide coverage for the time of our strike. However, we still had to undergo 4 days of hearing with the NJ Dept. of Labor. This is due to Prime’s insistence that they needed a complete record because they intend to appeal the new law. There is no way to estimate when the final ruling of the DOL can be expected.


JNESO ADVISES: If your Anchor rebate, State income refund, or your Federal tax refund has been withheld, please make sure you have forwarded that information to JNESO. Then if your return or rebate is substantially larger than what you received from unemployment, pay it back if you can. We will fight to have any and all payments sent back to you. If your unemployment is more than your rebate do not pay it back.

CRISIS PAY: Has been negotiated for all JNESO members at $22.50/hour effective immediately. Please check www.jneso.org or Saint Michaels's website for all the details.


SIGN ON BONUS: In typical Prime action, SMMC has unilaterally implemented a $20,000. Sign-on bonus for new RNs. Under the law and our contract, they are not legally allowed to do so. JNESO has met with management and has insisted that the only way JNESO would agree to any sign-on bonus is if SMMC offers an equal retention bonus for all members. We have already filed an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which can be found at the same website above. Grievance and Arbitration filings are also in process.
