Dear SMA Community,
Thank you, everyone, for contributing to the success of the Fall Festival! Many SMA families, friends, alumni, and parishioners enjoyed the food and festivities! A HUGE thank you to Leyla Chavez and Celeste Kehoe, co-chairs, who worked tirelessly to bring this fun event to our community. More pictures are on Facebook / Instagram and in the breezeway at school.
Your feedback is very important to us. Please complete the Fall Festival Survey HERE.

Thank you to all parents/guardians who attended the PTG meeting. If you missed the meeting, HERE are the slides. We hope you enjoyed meeting our PTG officers and chairpersons as well as our Catholic high school representatives/alumni. Pictured are several members of the SMA PTG committee. Please email our PTA President, Katie Scheie, if you are interested in helping in any way. During our Fall Festival debrief, the PTG raved about how kind new parents to SMA were, that pitched in and shared their creative ideas.
We invite you to join us in the Blessing of the Animals next Wednesday at 2p.m. Fr. Elmer will bless your pets in front of the school. Please line up along the cement wall. Students are welcome to bring a stuffed animal pet as long as it fits in their bag/backpack for a blessing.
I am currently out of town as my beloved aunt, Mary Ann, passed away last week in Ohio. She spent decades in education as an administrative assistant. She has always supported my love for education, as did her late husband who was a shop teacher who eventually became a principal.
Embracing change can be difficult. I must also report that business manager, Brianne Maxwell, is leaving SMA. An opportunity came up for her to work at home and was too good to pass up. We will miss you, Brianne! After several interviews, we have hired Julie Murphy. She will be on site every Monday plus one other school day each week. Her qualifications are superb. You can read more about her below.

Introducing Julie Murphy - Business Manager
I was born and raised in Santee, where my family (4 generations) still resides. My husband Darren and I just sent our only son away to college to attend Concordia University in Wisconsin, where he is studying radiology and playing lacrosse. I enjoy scuba diving, traveling, and relaxing by the water in my free time. My previous career as a respiratory therapist is important to me. So, I continue to keep my skills strong teaching a few hours per week at Children's Hospital.
In addition, I have worked as the Treasurer for United Nurses of Children’s Hospital for 12 years and the Business Manager for St. Andrews Day School and Church for the past four years.
I look forward to getting to know all of the families and staff. Thank you in advance while I transition into this new adventure.

A Farewell Letter from Brianne Maxwell
Dear SMA community,
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. I am writing to inform you that after much consideration and deliberation, I have made the difficult decision to leave SMA to pursue a new opportunity that has presented itself to me. It is with a mix of excitement and sadness that I share this news with you. SMA has been my second home for the last 2 1/2 years, where I have had the privilege of working alongside some truly remarkable colleagues and engaging with exceptional students and parents. The memories and experiences I have gained here will forever hold a special place in my heart. However, this new opportunity aligns perfectly with my professional goals and aspirations, and I believe it is the right time for me to embark on this new chapter in my career.
