Dear SMA Community,
Catholic school volunteers play a crucial role in Catholic education, embodying the spirit of selflessness and service. Their dedication and commitment contribute to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for students to learn and grow in their faith. These invaluable individuals generously give their time, talents, and resources to support various aspects of school life, whether it's assisting in classrooms, organizing events, supervising lunch/recess, or arriving early for traffic duty. Our volunteers deserve heartfelt appreciation for their tireless contributions, as their unwavering support positively impacts the lives of countless students, teachers, and families. Their service exemplifies the Gospel message and strengthens the mission of Catholic education, nurturing the next generation of compassionate and socially responsible individuals. Thank you for taking the time to relax, unwind, and enjoy some coffee while we looked back on the school year.
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

As our school year comes to an end, our 8th graders are ready to move on to their next chapter in life fully prepared, both academically and faithfully. Our students have a tremendous advantage entering high school. The education they received at SMA is exceptional and of high quality. Our focus on honing life skills is, by far, the greatest gift our students take with them, as mentioned in many of their SLE presentations. Please consider joining us for the staff-vs 8th-grade volleyball game at 1 pm Tuesday and the farewell assembly at 1:30 pm on Wednesday. Our Spartan cheerleaders will be making appearances too!
All are welcome to the last school Mass tomorrow at 8:30 am. The Class of 2023 will enjoy a beautiful brunch, following Mass hosted by the 7th grade parents, which is a tradition here at SMA. You are all invited to attend the Graduation Mass next Friday, June 2nd at 3 pm to celebrate the Class of 2023. Next Thursday is free dress for all summer birthdays!
This Memorial Day weekend, my heartfelt thanks and prayers go out
to all of our military families (past and present). As a former military
wife, I know the feeling of helplessness and concern when saying
"good-bye" to a loved one, not knowing where their path may lead and what harm might come, either physically or emotionally. Thank you, veterans and active duty members, for your service and response to God's call to protect our country despite knowing the costs.
Happy birthday to the church! The word "Pentecost" means 50th day in Greek. Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and wear red to Mass. If you'd like to enjoy a new experience, consider attending the Pentecostal Mass for All Peoples at Miramar College on Saturday at 10 am, hosted by the Diocese of San Diego. It is a wonderful way to learn about various cultures.
