Superintendent Resignation

The St. Louis Park Public Schools School Board accepted the resignation of Dr. Osei at the September 12, 2023 school board meeting. Tami Reynolds, director of student services, was announced as the acting superintendent.

On Monday, September 18, the School Board will hold a Special Meeting to discuss a selection process for an interim superintendent.

Park Nicollet Foundation Presentation

Paul Danicic and Jerry Timian from the Park Nicollet Foundation provided an overview of the foundation's partnership with St. Louis Park Public Schools. During 2022, Park Nicollet Foundation raised $3.3 million and provided $2,280,000 in grants to Park Nicollet Health Services. They also managed 578 volunteers with a total of 62,665 hours. Park Nicollet Foundation provides signature community programs including:

  • No-fee weekly mental health services
  • Accessibility to youth care for ages 12-18
  • Therapy provided in both Spanish and English

Back to School

Students were welcomed back in early September. At the Back to School Staff Rally SLP Schools launched Hometown in the City, a marketing campaign created by student interns.

This is the first year SLP Core Value Awards were given in recognition to outstanding staff. Those recognized were:

  • Kathy Steffes
  • Kelson Mackenzie
  • Callie Hefstad
  • Lynn Brown
  • Nihya Semrin
  • Judy Contreras

Approval of Policy 806 Crisis Management

The School Board unanimously approved the adoption of Policy 806 Crisis Management. The purpose of this policy is to act as a guide for the school district and staff on how to address a wide range of potential crisis situations in the school district. With the guidance of Dr. Densley and the Violence Project, the School Board approved five lockdown drills for staff at all sites.
