ARTIFICIAL REEF MONITORING TRAINING

Florida Sea Grant and the Taylor County Reef Research Team hosted the Volunteer Divers Training for the Artificial Reef Monitoring Program. Thanks to the support of Piddler's Pointe RV Park in Steinhatchee, the participants were able to practice the protocols to collect fish count data. Using fish cutouts along the pool they practiced fish identification and count techniques learned during the lectures. Check back here for more up-and-coming reef projects!

All kids took home a new fishing rod & tackle box! They were given some live shrimp & fished off the docks during the event! Parents, captains & volunteers helped bait hooks & take off fish and taught them how to fish!

Each kid was able to take home a NEW fishing rod & fully equipped kids tackle box! Our Sea Hag captains and volunteers were a huge help in making this event successful! MORE THAN 150 CHILDREN RECIEVED TACKLE BOXES AND ROD AND REEL COMBOS! We will include a thank you NEXT WEEK to all those that made this event possible and a huge success!
