Dear Academy Families,
I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and share some exciting news as we plan to enhance our beloved Staten Island Academy. As we usher in the Academy's 139th Opening Day and officially welcome our newly appointed Head of School, Dr. Eileen F. Corigliano, I could not be more proud and humbled to serve as the President of Staten Island Academy's Board of Trustees. As some of you may know, I own Island Auto Group here on the Island. Additionally, I am actively involved with several Staten Island nonprofits; including sitting on the Board of Richmond University Medical Center. My love for the Academy runs deep; I am a proud parent of two Academy graduates and a current senior graduating this Spring.
The Board of Trustees has a long and successful history of supporting the Academy and this year's Board looks to carry out that tradition. We are thinking strategically with our Head of School to build an even stronger financial path and a more vibrant campus for our children. We believe that our facility should match, and even enhance, our incredible academic program.
Our job as a Board is to support Dr. Corigliano's educational philosophy and ensure that we have the resources necessary to travel on that path. The entire Board, along with Dr. Corigliano, are working towards a common goal of making the Academy the best it can be for not only our children during this academic year, but for future generations of Academy children.
This year the Board will work towards making some very necessary and exciting improvements to our campus. As you will see, we have been refreshing areas of our campus already. This includes; removing the old containers and sheds at our front entrance, repaving the front parking lot, and making renovations to the front entrance and the Nurse's office.
These projects are just the beginning of what we hope to be a year of progress and moving towards a campus that we can all be proud to say not only matches, but enhances, our incredible curriculum and faculty.
I would like to welcome you all back and look forward to working with you and your families as we support our Head of School, in what I know is the beginning of an amazing year!
