Today in LGBTQ History  -  April 5, 2005: Kansas voters approve an amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriages and civil unions.

"Voters in Kansas overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment Tuesday banning same-sex couples from marrying or entering into civil unions. With 97 percent of the vote reported, 395,468, or 71 percent, voted 'yes,' and 163,766, or 29 percent, voted 'no.'

...Gay marriage is already banned under Kansas law, and the law is not being challenged. But supporters of the ballot measure said the ban must be in the Kansas Constitution to insulate it from legal challenge." [

The show will be held at the Hoi Polloi Studio, 4939 N. Broadway unit #57. Debbie Hill, the unit lease holder and operator of the ceramic workshop part of the studio, and I have been conspiring on this "Resist and Persist" show to be held within the studio.

We currently have about 20 Boulder area artists participating in the exhibit.  We are asking artists that we know and appreciate their work, that might be interested in showcasing a piece of their art that fits this theme.

The exhibit is scheduled for an opening as part of the NoBo (North Boulder Arts District)  May 5th "First Friday" art walk and Saturday the 6th.  We will open up wall space throughout the studio for visiting artists to display and we have a loft area that could work nicely for a film, video, slide presentation.
