San Gabriel Fire Department's CERT Class

Returns This April


Want to learn basic emergency response skills so you can help your family and your community during a disaster? Come join San Gabriel Fire Department's free CERT class in April!


During this three-day course, CERT members will learn basic response and organizational skills to help sustain life and protect property following a disaster until help arrives. 


The hands-on class and lecture will cover disaster management/preparation, medical operation, triage, search and rescue, and fire safety.


Class location: Fire Station 51 (1303 S Del Mar Ave, San Gabriel)


Class schedule:

  • April 13, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • April 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • April 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sign Up for San Gabriel Police Department's

Community Academy


San Gabriel Police Department's Community Academy is returning this May. The community will receive an interactive, hands-on, and comprehensive overview of the San Gabriel Police Department. Community Academy classes will be held every Thursday starting May 4 to July 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Applications are now available and the deadline to apply is Friday, April 26. Applicants will be required to pass a basic background check. For questions, please contact Officer Cecily Ramirez at (626) 451-5460 or email cr152@sgpd.com.

San Gabriel Begins Recruitment for Police Chief


The City of San Gabriel is seeking its next Police Chief.


The Police Chief is an at-will position and works closely with the City Manager, overseeing the San Gabriel Police Department and its programs and services. The Police Chief serves as the public face of the department and works to build strong relationships with community members, city officials and other stakeholders.

Become A Volunteer Tutor for Our Seniors

Technology Tutoring Program


Become a technology volunteer and teach senior citizens how to use smart phones, tablets, laptops and other devices in a safe and comfortable environment.


Tutoring appointments take place each Wednesday for 45 minutes per session. Each senior citizen will be paired up with one volunteer.


All volunteers will be required to attend an orientation prior to starting their volunteer service.

City Council Meeting - March 21, 2023

Watch a replay of the March 21 City Council meeting where a certificate was given to Ms. Lei Wang for her achievement under Assemblymember Mike Fong's 49th District Woman of Impact. Mayor Tony Ding ended his year as Mayor and received accolades from dignitaries and surrounding cities. The City Council also discussed the mid-year budget for fiscal year 2022-23 and the early payoff for the public works loan.
