Child Care for Working Families Act
Comprehensive ECE Bill Introduced
Increases access, quality supports, and educator compensation
The Child Care for Working Families Act was introduced by Democrats in the House and Senate last Thursday. The comprehensive bill improves access, provides funds for quality supports, and provides workforce supports including addressing compensation as follows:
States must create a wage ladder for staff of eligible child care providers and ensure that payment rates of staff will support wages that are comparable to wages of elementary educators with similar credentials in the state and at a minimum provide a living wage for all staff of child care providers.

Impact of Federal Budget Cuts on Your Congressional District

From California Budget & Policy Center: The Trump Administration and leaders in Congress have proposed deep cuts to various critical services and systems. If enacted, these cuts would harm millions of individuals and would be particularly damaging for certain populations, such as older adults, people with disabilities, and families struggling to make ends meet. Especially troubling is the fact that these spending reductions are being put forth alongside a set of tax cuts that would overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy and large corporations.
The California Budget & Policy Center has created a set of 53 Fact Sheets - one for every congressional district in the state - that highlights the potential impact of proposed federal spending cuts, in terms of people served or levels of support.
