Congratulations to the AuSable Dance Center for being selected as the Grayling Chamber Ambassador's Club September Spotlight-A-Member!!

Year Began:

2011

How long has your business been a Chamber member?

3 years

How many staff do you employ?

We have two other employees in addition to ourselves. Crystal Richter: our gymnastics instructor and Jen Malonen: our office administrator

History:

It's your run-of-the-mill "dream come true" story for both of us. We both realized the need in our community for performing arts for our youth. We grew up dancing together. Felicia went onto pursue dance further, moving west and training professionally while Chelsea remained in Grayling and began a family. Felicia found her way back to northern Michigan in 2011 and the rest is "history."

What product or service does your business provide?

  • Professional Dance training to include: ballet, jazz, hip-hop, pointe, creative movement, tap, gymnastics and adult stretch and strength classes.
  • We have a line of tutu's and hair accessories for little girls.

What is a product/service that you provide that people may not know?

  • We offer classes beginning at age 2. Our Tea Party/Intro to Dance classes are some of our most popular.
  • We also offer dance themed birthday parties.
  • The training that we can offer is unmatched in our surrounding areas.
  • We're also looking forward to putting on at least 3 recitals, to include a Christmas theme, this year. All shows are open to the public.

What is a unique fact about your business that people may not know?

In 2012, we formed the AuSable Dance Company. A group of 18-20 dancers who commit to a rigorous, weekly rehearsal schedule and compete against some of the best dancers in the nation. In 2012, ADC dancers brought home $5,000+ in scholarships and over 20 awards.  ADC parents have come together to create a non-profit organization that focuses on fundraising for their dancers. After generous donations from Grayling Youth Boosters and extensive fundraising, this group was able to pay for over $3,000 in entry fees.

Additional information you wish to share:

ADC is committed to providing a professional and safe environment where dancers gain self-confidence, respect and develop their talent at both the competitive and recreational levels. Our goal is to leave students feeling inspired.
