Building Bridges: Connecting Education and Industry to Workforce Development

This event aims to bring together key industry players and employers from Aquidneck Island to address the current labor market and workforce training needs. 

 

The summit includes a keynote presentation by a renowned labor market expert, followed by a panel discussion with industry leaders. Attendees will also participate in industry-specific breakout sessions to generate practical solutions. 

 

The aim is to build robust talent pipeline programs that prepare students for successful careers while addressing the critical workforce needs of the community. CCRI is dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation of professionals, thus cementing our role in Rhode Island's economic development.

Industry Spotlight Series | Innovate Newport | Defense Industry


When: 25 July 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Where: Innovate Newport


The event will be an enlightening Industry Spotlight event focused on the Defense Industry. 

 

With opening remarks by Host Molly Donohue Magee: CEO of the Undersea Technology Innovation Consortium (UTIC) and CEO of SENEDIA, the alliance for Defense Tech, Talent, and Innovation, the session will be moderated by Colin Jackson, Chairman, Strategic and Operation Research at the US Naval War College. The panel discussion will delve into the Rhode Island Defense Ecosystem, addressing its challenges, opportunities, and showcasing both established and emerging defense companies. 

 

The distinguished panel includes: Vic Ricci: Chief Technology Officer at Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Eliza Van Reen: Founder & CEO of Circadian Positioning Systems, Nelson Mills: Founder & CEO of VATN Systems, and Molly Donohue Magee: CEO of the Undersea Technology Innovation Consortium (UTIC) and CEO of SENEDIA.  

 

Rhode Island and Southeastern New England serve as the hub of undersea technology, boasting some of the most innovative undersea technologies globally. In addition to established companies, our region hosts numerous innovative startups with applications potentially relevant to Defense.
