Lich Gate Concerts tickets

William R. Hudgins, Clarinet

Guest Soloist WILLIAM R. HUDGINS was appointed by Seiji Ozawa as Principal Clarinetist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Chamber Players in 1994. He has been heard as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, including performances of both Mozart and Copland’s Clarinet Concertos and works by Bruch, Krommer, Martin, and Weber. Past chamber music performances include collaborations with Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Paula Robison, Barbara Bonney, and the Lydian String Quartet. Mr. Hudgins spent eight seasons with the Saito Kinen Summer Festival Orchestra in Japan and six seasons as a member of both the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Charleston, South Carolina, and Il Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italia. He formerly served as Principal Clarinet with Charleston (SC) Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfonica Municipal in Caracas, Venezuela. As summer residents of the Berkshires for some 25 years, Bill and his wife Cathy have been most appreciative of the enduring hospitality and friendship of Christ Trinity Church and Lich Gate Concerts.

A Spirit of Gratitude & Hospitality

Appalachian Trail Ministry

We are excited to welcome Father Sam Vaught and the parishioners of St. Paul's Church in Stockbridge as Trail Angels starting this year. There are still several openings on our volunteer roster. We realize folks are hesitant to sign up because "something might come up" but that is exactly why the list is on a changeable online form. Please sign up now for those dates in HOPE that nothing will happen to keep you from being there! If in the days ahead, you need to change a date for any reason, you can do that.

New - we are having a 5.5'w x 7' long x 7.6' high wood storage shed built! All the native lumber was donated by Konkapot Tree and Timber (Will Conklin), all the hardware including latches and the metal roof were donated by Herrington's, and the structure is being built by Greenagers under the direction of Pete Gray. We are grateful to Jim Kelly, Will Conklin, Ed Herrington and Pete Gray for the new storage shed.

We are also very grateful to the folks at St. Paul's Church and Bishop Doug Fisher of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts for their generous support. We thank Jeff Neil and Adrian Misacango of The Elm & Uva Pizza e Vino in Great Barrington for their generous donation of Hot Dogs for Hot Dog Church which, at their direction, will now go to feed hikers on the Appalachian Trail! As we know, the hikers will also be thankful for those hot dogs and they will take that spirit of gratitude and hospitality with them up the trail and out into the world. Just take a minute to think about that. Isn't it remarkable to think that we here, doing generous hospitality in gratitude, will be passing all that on to hikers who will then carry what we have given them and deposit it with others on the trail and literally around the world? Good, good, stuff!

Yoga in the garden

In our happy place practicing yoga outdoors today Saturday 10 AM at Christ Trinity Church, Sheffield. Creativity is always required when we move out into nature, accommodating the weather conditions, the light and the warmth, and the pitch of the terrain. We moved into the beautiful shade of ancient maple trees today. This afforded us sun for the sun worshipers, deep shade for those who require it and some dappled light for those who want just a little vitamin D! Join us for moderate yoga, amazing birdsong, lovely views and live native flute accompanying the bird song during rest/savasana. Every Saturday through June. Inclement weather, we practice indoors.

"We are all so happy with how it went."

"Christ Trinity Church provided a wonderful setting for my son and daughter in law to have their wedding on May 2, 2024. The church is beautiful in every way and the parish administrator was communicative and helpful throughout the planning as well as on the day itself. The sanctuary is the perfect size for our guest list of 100 people.

The church organist, who is extraordinarily gifted, was available for hire to play at the rehearsal as well as the wedding, and did a terrific job. A generous downstairs level at the church gave the bride a comfortable and private changing room. The church's florist was available to fill the altar vases with fresh flowers right before the event. So many details made the big day go well; down to the ringing of the wedding bell after the service.

We were lucky to have a clear, sunny day and the church grounds provided an ideal outdoor setting for photography.  Had the weather not been good, however, the reception area, which is spacious and glassy, would have provided a terrific option as well and took the pressure off Mother Nature. The reception room is so attractive, in fact, it could provide the setting for the ceremony.

Everything about planning and holding the wedding at Christ Trinity Church was comfortable, easy and beautiful, which helped us all enjoy a truly joyful experience. "

A "thank you" from Construct

On June 1st, a nine-member team from Christ Trinity volunteered at Cassilis Farm in New Marlborough, for Construct. This was an event to showcase and promote affordable housing in the Berkshires. Our team received this thank you from the Construct board.:

Dear Wonderful Volunteers,

You cannot imagine how great it was to have your team show up in force and even early! What a glorious weekend! We cannot thank all of you enough for making the first weekend of the Designer Showhouse a resounding success.  The warm welcome and hospitality was noted by many visitors, and it makes all the difference. Without this support, we couldn't make it happen.

In gratitude, Betty Farbman www.constructberkshires.org
