Annual Meeting Keynote Address by Angela Rodell
Angela Rodell, CEO of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, will serve as the keynote lunch speaker on Wednesday, September 15 at Southeast Conference's Annual Meeting. APFC manages and invests the $65 billion. Since becoming CEO chief executive officer the Fund has grown by more than 25%, and in 2019 Ms Rodell received global recognition as #4 among 100 of the most “significant, resilient, and impactful asset owner and public executives” from the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute. Ms Rodell previously served on APFC’s board of trustees as a cabinet member, appointed commissioner of the Department of Revenue in 2013 by Governor Sean Parnell. In addition to oversight of 900 state employees, Commissioner Rodell participated as a member of the Alaska Retirement Management Board, the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation Board, the Alaska State Bond Committee, and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority.

Southeast Alaska Garage Party (x-tra tuffs required)

The team at Alaska Airlines will host a Southeast Alaska Garage Party, complete with refreshments, door prizes, games and more! The Alaska Marine Highway System re-routed the ferry schedule to coincide with Southeast Conference's Annual Meeting and Alaska Airline's inbound flights to Juneau (Thank you AMHS!). The M/V Le Conte will depart Juneau's Auke Bay Ferry Terminal on Monday, September 13 at 2pm, returning on Thursday, September 16th at 5pm.
Any Southeast Conference member in good standing may declare their interest in a seat on the Southeast Conference Board of Directors. Interested parties must submit a letter of intent to the Board of Directors no later than August 15th to run for the available seat. The letter must contain: a statement of the candidate's interest to run, full name, residential address, phone number and signature. Email communication is acceptable. Send email communications to  info@seconference.org   
All nominees will be reviewed by the SEC Nominating Committee and then approved by the entire SEC Board of Directors before being presented to the membership for consideration.

Community & Business of the Year Nominations
Are you aware of a business or community in the region that did something amazing over this last year? Tell us about it! Simply fill out the appropriate nomination form (linked below) and tells us why you think they deserve recognition. Community of the Year and Business of the Year awards will be given out during the banquet at Southeast Conference's upcoming Annual Meeting. Nominations must be received no later then August 31, 2021.
Calling All UAS Supporters!
Since 1992, Southeast Conference has partnered with UAS to offer a scholarship program that supports residents of the region. Scholarship funds have been raised through an auction that is generously supported by individuals and businesses throughout Southeast and conducted each year at the Annual Membership Meeting. Mining in the Spotlight
The Alaska Chamber named Hecla Greens Creek recipient of its prestigious Rita Sholton Large Business of the Year award, which pays tribute to businesses that exemplify leadership, ethics, and organization.
Congratulations to Coeur's Kensington Mine for the approval of their Plan of Operations Amendment (POA1) by the Forest Service, enabling them to extend the life of their mining operations in the area for another 10 years.
EDA Funding Opportunities for Communities
Under the American Rescue Plan, EDA was allocated $3 billion in supplemental funding to assist communities nationwide in their efforts to build back better by accelerating the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and building local economies that will be resilient to future economic shocks.
