“The way a team plays as a whole, determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime." Babe Ruth

Dear Southern Door families, Staff, and Community:
Whether it was the Packer’s Monday night win, or better yet, our own Eagles football team now going 2-0 and the success of our cross-country team, we realize that while talent is important, it is teamwork which brings about success for both the team and its individuals.

With the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences here in October, we recognize that the most important TEAM (Together Each Achieves More) that we have here at Southern Door is that of parents and staff, working together as partners for our students’ success. We look forward to strengthening that partnership with our parents, who are the most important people in their children’s lives. Our conversations about student strengths and needs are critical to ensuring that together, we help every child reach their potential. Be watching for your school's outreach for how these conferences will be done virtually this year.

Another key relationship is the one that the District has with our community. An important decision for our community's consideration is being placed on the November 3rd ballot. During this pandemic, I am not able to share information by doing the usual town meetings, as I have done in the past. Information is provided in a press release at this link. I will also provide information each week in this newsletter, and on the district’s Facebook page. You can also access lots of resources and Frequently Asked Questions on the district website at this link. If you have any questions about the referendum, please feel free to contact me as well at the district office: 920-825-7311.

Together We Are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!

NOVEMBER REFERENDUM NO TAX INCREASE
Did you know that the last operational referendum passed by the community in 2018 expired June 30, 2020? A successful school referendum results in no increase to the 🦅Southern Door School District’s projected tax mill rate.

The projected mill rate of 8.76 continues to be below the State average of 9.37. Future years’ mill rates are projected to remain at or less than current values. More information is available at this link on the district's website.

Please cast an informed vote on November 3rd.
PUBLIC HEALTH OFFERS FREE FLU VACCINE FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN
Door County Public Health will again offer free influenza vaccine to school age children this year. With COVID-19, their clinics are going to look different this year. They are not able to go into each school and provide flu vaccine to the students. Instead, they encourage parents to bring children age 4-18 years old to one of our drive-through clinics. Please click on this link for dates, times and locations. Parents will need to sign for their child to receive the vaccine. We have injectable and Nasal Mist Influenza this year. We will be able to honor preference as supply allows.
