Suspicious Item Forces Lockdown in Parking Lot 
A parking lot adjacent to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and Valencia Library was on lockdown Thursday morning due to the discovery of a suspicious item, and the scene was cleared by 11 a.m., officials said.
 
Kunak, of Castaic Town Council, Suffers Fatal Heart Attack
John Kunak, a member of the Castaic Town Council, died in his home Thursday of what appeared to be a heart attack, officials confirmed.

Castaic Middle School needs your vote as they have been selected by Farmers Insurance as one of 15 finalists for Thank America's Teachers Dream Big Teacher Challenge. Farmers Insurance will award five schools with a $100,000 grant this fall. CMS made the list, and the only way they can win is with your vote. Beale's Cut in "Cowboy Serenade"

Stock footage of a jump over a narrow defile is spliced into a sequence in "Cowboy Serenade" (1942) from Republic Pictures starring Gene Autry. The same footage was also used in "Thunder in God's Country" (Republic 1951) starring Rex Allen.
