New Old Stuff: Native Son Brings It Home

Born and raised in the Santa Clarita Valley, 2007 Valencia High School grad Shane Vereen was the leading receiver (by number) Sunday as he helped lift the New England Patriots to a wild, come-from-behind, 28-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. Vereen's 11 catches, including an 8-yard, left-handed grab on the game-winning drive, advanced the Patriots 64 yards, and he rushed for another 13. Shane's a bit bigger now than he was in the 9th grade (shown), but there is no mistaking the smile.
