State of the City 2016: 'Best in the West'
The Santa Clarita State of the City Luncheon was held Thursday. The "Best in the West" themed luncheon provided updates on infrastructure projects, the budget, public safety, traffic improvements, successes and priorities in building Santa Clarita's local economy, the Santa Clarita Public Library, the Open Space Preservation District, balancing city-wide beautification and much more.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station will again host the frightening Haunted Jailhouse event on Sunday, Oct. 30. (With a non-frightening place for little ones, too.)

Super Scoopers to Remain Through November
To ensure that the Los Angeles County Fire Department is prepared for any type of major fire incident, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced that the lease contract for two CL-415 Super Scooper fire-fighting aircraft from the Government of Quebec has been extended through Nov. 30, 2016.

When Jan Sanborn and her husband Loren Janes were evacuated during the Sand Fire in July, they lost everything: from memorabilia of their lives in the arts and entertainment, Sanborn is a pianist and composer, Janes is a renowned stuntman from films like "Blazing Saddles" and "Back to the Future", to the roof they lived under for over 20 years.
