Sloan Creek Intermediate School Principal Message

Good evening Sloan Creek Parents,

It has been such a wonderful week and I definitely have been enjoying the cooler temps.

We also had our first Creek Life Assembly on Monday. Our students competed in a challenge with our staff and I have to report that our students lost (they were not happy). We also showed our students a video about a program we will be participating in on December 15th. Please view the video here. We are so excited for the opportunity to package meals for those in need.

As a gentle reminder, tomorrow is Leopard Friday. All Sloan Creek students will dismiss by 11:45 am. Bus students and walkers will dismiss to go to their busses at 11:40 and car riders will begin dismissal at 11:45. We hope to see several of you at the high school for Leopard Friday. If you are new to Lovejoy, please take special note of the flyer in this newsletter. It is a great community event, and I know my own kiddos are looking forward to going.

Please see our wonderful pictures below. I am including a lot of pictures from last Friday through this week as we had so much fun to capture. I am also including pictures from the band concert a few weeks back.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Lovejoy Proud,

Character Trait- Caring

We will be focusing on a Character Trait each 9 weeks during our guidance lessons and our Monday Classroom Conversations. The first nine weeks we focused on responsibility, accountability for one’s actions and dependability. This second 9 weeks we will be focusing on Caring. We will discuss how characteristics of caring impacts personal relationships. Each student will evaluate his/her own personal attitudes and mindsets about self and others. We will discuss how feelings, decision making, and personal behaviors can influence relationships with others, and explain and identify examples of how a person can demonstrate empathy through kindness, charity, generosity, and courtesy.

Continuing with the discussion at home will help students identify ways that they can show concern and empathy for others. Thank you for partnering with us!

Lovejoy Letter Campaign

It’s that time of year again to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff with our Lovejoy Letter Writing Campaign! Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when current and past students and parents write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.

The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show gratitude to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district. It is an opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Over the next two weeks we will be accepting note card donations. You can drop them off in the donation bin in the front office of SCIS. Please sign up to donate using the link below.

Note Card Donation Sign up

Starting October 31, you can drop off you letters to the donation bin in the SCIS front office.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located in the designated area at your school no later than Friday November 11th.

The letter writing campaign has become such a meaningful tradition in our district. We really appreciate your time and effort to help us tell our teachers and staff thank you for all that they do!
