My name Sean Sullivan and my nonprofit business name is “I Know Autism Foundation.” The mission of my business is to inspire, educate and help people with disabilities, parents, caregivers, and professionals. I Know Autism does this through: podcasting, Youtube videos, social media, public speaking, webinars, etc.
I opted to start my own business because I was very frustrated at the fact that I kept getting rejected by companies that specialize in the same thing that I specialize in. I started I Know Autism with the assistance of my dad and a few colleagues/friends of his who have both knowledge and experience in starting nonprofits. I got help mainly through family and close friends of my family who know a lot about nonprofits as well as the IRS.
The main challenges I am struggling with did not start until after I started my nonprofit. Some of the challenges I am facing now is finding volunteers, getting people to know about my nonprofit, finding funding, etc.
My advice for entrepreneurs: See a need and fill a need that you know you are good at and have a passion for!!
