This is just one evening a month where we come together and spend two hours writing. No prompts, required sharing, or critiquing– just writing. Color Theory for Picture Books with Noah Klocek

(Production Designer & Art Director, Pixar Animation Studios)

Saturday April 20, 2024 12 Pm-2:30 PM EST 

Do you ever wonder how a Pixar artist thinks about color? Then this course is for you! Noah Klocek is a production designer and art director at Pixar Animation Studios as well as an author and illustrator. He presents color theory in a unique way that will have you thinking about color differently. This in-depth course will focus on hue, value, temperature and saturation while teaching about color scripting. It will include a live demonstration using the techniques taught in the class and a 30 minute Q & A at the end.

Sept. 20-26 Green Gable Retreat  Join fellow writers and kindred spirits for a seven-day, six-night guided getaway to Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. Visit historic Anne of Green Gables landmarks. Write where Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote. Guided by award-winning author Gary Schmidt and renowned editor, author and VCFA faculty emerita Shelley Tanaka, each day will provide time to work on your writing as well as prompts and activities to spark your creativity.  Participants may submit ten pages to each instructor for expert editorial review and will have a 30-minute one-on-one meeting with each instructor.
